Our experience will help you to a better home
Two of the biggest obstacles faced when building your first home is the cost and understanding the process, knowing where to start. Given the choice most people would build a family home that is sustainable, functional and easily grows with their families needs (and budget).
Starter Homes is here to help. We can help you get into your own new home at a fraction of the cost you would expect.
Starter Homes was established by Geoff and Catherine Hines to provide affordable housing to everyone. Their aim is to provide an affordable home that is within your budget without compromising quality.
They have long thought how disappointing it is that the dream of the average New Zealander to own their own home has disintegrated over the years. It is so hard for New Zealanders, especially those with families, to buy or build a house - for some almost impossible.
For families not to be able to own their home is socially unacceptable and should be a right not a privilege for all New Zealanders.
Catherine and Geoff admit that they did not own their own home for much of the time their children were growing up but have always been conscious of not only the economic value but the social value of owning your own home.
When the opportunity came along to use a unique, tried and true, housing system to build new homes they knew it would offer an affordable option to new owners that would provide a starting point for home developments.
Starter homes grew from this concept idea. Developed over a period of time we discussed how we could give people (as the motto says), a foot in the door. People who might normally not be able to afford a new home can start with a plan, whether it be one, two or three bedrooms and later make the additions they would like so a basic house can grow, maybe along with a family, into a dream home. The idea is simple, start with a basic floor space and plan to add on
when it suits you.
